路透社 (Reuters)
1850年由保羅·朱利葉斯·路透在德國創立。1851年遷址到倫敦。1865年路透社成為英國創辦最早的通訊社，現爲世界四大通訊社之一。以快速的新聞報道被世界各地報刊廣爲採用而聞名。路透社名義上是私人企業，實際上受政府控制，是英國的官方喉舌。
路透社新聞報道的主要物件是國外﹕
- 國際新聞緊密配合英國政府的外交活動
- 重視體育新聞。
- 經濟新聞主要爲英國和西方大企業服務
- 每天發稿。
- 每天24小時，通過電子電腦控制以電視、電傳和油印稿形式，向世界名地的銀行、經紀人和工商企業提供經濟、金融情報。
- 路透經濟新聞在世界上享有一定地位。在它的總收入中，85％來自出售的經濟新聞，15％來自國內的收入。

Scannable text
According to Jakob Nielsen (1997), most people are not accustomed to read web pages word by Word. Instead, they usually scan web pages by finding key words or sentences. Therefore, scannable text is essential for web pages. As suggested by Nielsen, a scannable text includes highlighted keywords, meaningful sub-headings, bulleted lists, inverted pyramid style and half word count.[2]
With reference to a Reuters web page[3], it can be seen that to what extent that this page suits the above criteria.
First of all, neither highlighted keywords nor hypertext link is used throughout the whole news article. It is because the author wants all the readers to read the article thoroughly.
Meaningful sub-headings: (not "clever" ones)
Bulleted lists: one idea per paragraph (users will skip over any additional ideas if they are not caught by the first few words in the paragraph)
However, this article is written in an inverted pyramid style for it started with a conclusion. (Please see below)
