“24 hours news is the future tendency, for competition, media should turn themselves into one of this group” said Peter Kwan.
Mr. Peter Kwan, the senior vice president of the News department in Asia Television was invited by the Hong Kong Shue Yan College to give a talk named "The operation of 24 hours news channel" in the Tuesday assembly.
“The audiences thirsting for the news in everyday at anytime, also at everywhere, what the media should do is fulfill their demand” said Kwan. Therefore, media applying the 24 hours news channel a kind of way out.
The Asia Television had also operating a 24 hours news channel with the Now.com. Kwan pointed out the operating a news channel need a great deal of resources. He then talked straight that Asia Television is a weak company, if they apply such channel must be sponsored.
“On the strength of the independence of news and the right of audience knowledge, Asia Television would only accept the parts which are not having conflict with the sponsors like the weather report and such on being sponsored.” said Kwan.
